(Remote Sensing Part II and Part III will also be offered)
Date: February 8, 2017
Time: 4:00-6:00pm
Location: StaLab Classroom, CSSSI C27, KBT
The Yale Center for Earth Observation is offering an introductory workshop on satellite-based remote sensing. This is the first of a three-part series teaching students to use imagery in their research.
This workshop is targeted to those with no background in remote sensing, It will introduce the basic concepts of remote sensing including; the electromagnetic spectrum, characteristics of selected major sensor systems, components of a satellite image, and a description of spectral, spatial and temporal resolution. The workshop will use the Google Earth Engine and cloud-based data so laptops are required to complete the exercise. Students will compare and contrast various types of data across time and space and will be introduced to basic image manipulation techniques.
