SUMMARY:Artist Book Hour: Textile Tactics
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an immersive\, hands-on experience as we explore
the rich language of textiles through the medium of artists' books.
Together\, we will examine works that illustrate the various motivations
artists have for incorporating textiles either as a central element or as a
foundation for their creative processes. Much like the act of wearing
clothing\, these objects are intended to be experienced intimately and
individually by each reader. Our guest curator for this event is Heather
Gendron\, Director of the Haas Arts Library who was also curator for the
related exhibit in Haas in 2024.\n\nCurious about artists' books? They
are\, simply put\, a creative medium in which the conventional materials
and approaches of book production—for instance paper and ink\,
graphically compelling combinations of illustration and text\, and
structures that invite exploration—are used and sometimes subverted to
create tangible\, interactive\, surprising works of art. Haas Arts Library
has thousands of artist books\, many in its special collections\, and the
Artist Book Hour event series invites you to engage directly with these art
objects. \n\n\n\nAudience: All members of the Yale community are welcome to
 attend.\n\nRegistration: Registration required
