SUMMARY:Introduction to Python for Applied Statistics and Data Analysis
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is designed to familiarize participants with the
basic frameworks for analyzing statistical and quantitative data with
Python. With a focus on building good programming habits and sound
understanding of the fundamentals\, workshop participants will learn to
identify and work with different types of data including vectors\,
matrices\, and data frames. Participants will also learn how to set and
define their working directory\, install and use external frameworks for
data manipulation and analysis\, manage their project's dependencies using
virtual environments\, and make inferences about real world data and
showcase those results to different audiences.\n\nInstructions:
Participants should come prepared to work through live examples by bringing
a laptop with Python and Positron preinstalled. To download Python\,
navigate to Python's webpage and download the latest version of Python for
your operating system. You will also need to download Positron. Note that
many users prefer to install the Anaconda distribution of Python because it
auto-installs many important data science libraries. Regardless of how you
install it\, make sure you install Python version 3 (3.13 preferred).
