SUMMARY:🏆 What does the new NIH Public Access Policy mean for you?
DESCRIPTION:What does the new NIH Public Access Policy mean for you?\n\nA
new NIH Public Access Policy is coming into effect soon. It requires Author
Accepted Manuscripts accepted for publication in a journal on or after July
1\, 2025\, to be submitted to PubMed Central upon acceptance for
publication\, for public availability\, without embargo\, upon the Official
Date of Publication.\n\nIn this session\, we’ll answer some basic
questions about the new policy.\n\n\n	What exactly is an Author Accepted
Manuscript\, and how is it different from a Final Published Article?\n	How
does the NIH Public Access Policy define the Official Date of
Publication?\n	I have an NIH-funded manuscript under review at a
subscription journal. Will the journal allow me to comply with this policy
of no-embargo public access?\n	Do authors have to pay an Article Processing
Charge?\n	Can authors use NIH grant funds to pay an APC? What about after
the period of performance?\n	Will the journal handle compliance\, or do
authors need to do it?\n	Does the award date matter?\n	Can I deposit Author
Accepted Manuscripts that aren’t associated with NIH funding?\n	Do you
have other questions? Email us and we’ll make sure to answer
 them.\n\n\nDuration: 20 minutes of lecture/presentation\; 20 minutes of
Q&A\n\nLearning outcomes: participants will be able to describe the new NIH
Public Access Policy and plan how they will comply with it.\n\nAudience:
NIH-funded researchers and the staff and students who work on NIH-funded
research\n\nNote: In this session\, we will focus specifically on the new
policy. We won’t be using the NIH Manuscript Submission System. If you
want to know more about NIHMS\, we regularly offer a separate live training
about grant compliance and the NIHMS\, as well as video tutorials and an
NIH Public Access Policy guide.\n\n \n\n🏆 Eligible for .75 CME
 credits\n\n\n
