Where in the World is the Data You Need? How to Find and Reuse Data Online
Do you need to find data for an assignment or research project? Are you not sure where to look? Or maybe you’ve found some data, but now you’re not sure if you’ll be able to use it?
Come to this session to discover how to find and reuse data. You’ll learn how to explain and refine your data needs based on your research question and walk away with strategies for finding, evaluating, and using datasets.
To illustrate those strategies, we’ll examine this topic through your own datasets! Please BYOD (bring your own dataset) — it can be data you or your team have generated, open data you’ve found online that you’re interested in, or some other kind of data you’re working with or excited by. (Just make sure it’s not confidential, HIPAA-protected, or high-risk data, and can be shown to others. Please note that bringing a dataset is not required to attend, or learn something from, this session.)
All participants — including those on the medical campus and beyond — are welcome at this session, regardless of data expertise or prior experience with this topic.
