Manipulating data in R using the tidyverse (online event) In-Person

This workshop will be held on Zoom. A link will be sent within 24 hours of the event.

Are you trying to analyze messy, large, or unstructured data sets in R? This workshop is for you! The tidyverse can help you tackle a range of issues related to cleaning, summarizing, visualizing and reshaping your data.

The workshop assumes familiarity and comfort with basic R commands. It is recommended that you have already taken First and Second Steps with R.

The focus in this session is building familiarity with commands in the tidyverse. We will work with the following packages: tidyr, dplyr and ggplot2

Software Used: R, RStudio

Topics

This workshop covers:

  • using the pipe function in dplyr to filter, subset, manipulate, summarize and reshape data
  • using tidyr commands to clean and manipulate data, with particular focs on text data and dates
  • summarizing data for visualizations using ggplot2

NEW: Any student who participates in at least 3 library workshops during the fall 2021 semester will be eligible for a prize! How it works: Register for a library workshop or tour.
