Python and Omics data In-Person
This class is designed to help you learn how to build simple Python solutions that will allow you to automate processing tasks commonly used when dealing with omics data. In this class, we will leverage a free website called Rosalind. Rosalind is a platform for learning bioinformatics and programming through problem-solving.
Example tasks include,
Counting DNA nucleotides from a sample string such as ‘AGCTTTTCATT’
Transcribing DNA into RNA
Complementing a Strand of DNA
Learning outcomes
- Learn how to use Rosalind.info to access more practice questions
- Practice breaking down tasks/prompts into programmable components
Prerequisite: It is recommended that you arrive with some basic knowledge of Python. Learn about resources for learning Python by emailing medicaldata@yale.edu.
