Panel Discussion: Collecting Photobooks In-Person
Yale's Robert B. Haas Family Arts Library invites you to a panel discussion dedicated to the ins and outs of collecting photobooks. Larissa Leclair, independent photography collector and consultant and founder of the Indie Photobook Library, will join Yale Library colleagues George Miles, Mar Gonzales Palacios, and Heather Gendron in conversation. Topics include: how collecting differs from the circulating stacks of libraries versus special collections; how the rise of self-published photobooks is changing the way institutions acquire new titles for their collections; how collection stewards find and purchase photobooks being published today; and how artists can establish relationships with collections. This is a great opportunity for students interested in learning more about how to get their work in collections.
The Virtual Photobook Club is an event series run by Yale's Robert B. Haas Family Arts Library focused on all things photobooks. Topics include: conversations about independent publishers, rare photobooks, personal photobook collections, and more! All events take place via Zoom and require advance registration.
Audience: This event is open to the public.
Registration: Registration required. You will receive a reminder email 1-hour before the event with the link to the Zoom room. If you register less than 1-hour before the event starts, email tess.colwell@yale.edu for the Zoom link.
