This workshop is presented by the Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning and Yale University Library.

Plagiarism is the use of someone else’s work, words, or ideas without attribution (or citation). When you write, you’re joining an ongoing conversation. You cannot make an original contribution if you are not the owner of the words and ideas that you present. Strategies to avoid plagiarism can also help you find your voice and gain power as a writer.

In this workshop, you will learn:

• strategies to avoid plagiarism
• about tools to catch plagiarism before you turn in an assignment
• how to use citation management software to keep track of citations, take notes, and create a bibliography

Audience: This workshop is for undergraduate students at any phase in the research process. Graduate students are also welcome to attend.
