Introduction to Mendeley: A Reference Manager

Introduction to Mendeley: A Reference Manager In-Person

Mendeley is a specific piece of reference management software. In Mendeley, you can annotate PDFs, create shared groups for easy collaboration, and use web tools to pull citation information from library databases and the open Internet. Mendeley can also connect to Word or LaTeX for easy citing while writing.

Recommended audience: Everyone

Pre-session work: Register for a Mendeley account. Install Mendeley and the Mendeley bookmarklet. Optional: Bring citations to import.

Learning outcomes:

  • Participants will use the web importer to populate their Mendeley library.
  • Participants will use the auto-lookup feature for DOIs, arXiv IDs, and PUBMED IDs and the Needs Review folder to manage their references.
  • Participants will use the annotation, import, export, and backup tools to manage their reference libraries.
  • Participants will integrate citations into Word or LaTeX documents and create a bibliography.

This workshop will take 45 minutes, with time for questions at the end. A Zoom link will be sent out an hour before the workshop begins.
