Literature Reviews in the Earth and Planetary Sciences In-Person
This is a 60-minute workshop for students doing research and writing in the Earth and planetary sciences, from atmospheric science to field geology and paleontology. While it focuses on literature/lit reviews, it will also be useful for searching for scholarly materials in general.
Attendees will:
- Differentiate among types of reviews and which methodologies fit your research situation.
- Select the types of documents and research products that will be helpful during the lit review process.
- Perform advanced searches in Google Scholar, GeoRef, the Web of Science, Scopus, and content-specific databases to hone in on a topic.
- Export references as they go and learn the basics of organizing sources to make the writing process just a bit easier.
Audience: This workshop is open to anyone in the Yale community.
