Getting Down to Climate Facts In-Person

In this sixty-minute workshop, participants will dig into articles about climate and atmospheric science to learn tools and strategies for fact-checking. Beyond Google, we will discuss the many resources available in Yale’s academic databases as well as reliable government data and websites. Our main goal is to have fun exploring ways to excavate nuggets of truth from a range of sources we all encounter in our busy lives.

Audience: First-year and second-year undergraduates, students in extracurriculars involving climate science/change.

Attendees will:

  • Distinguish between types of news sources based on the 5 Ws to judge credibility.
  • Use advanced database features and search strategies to check facts in news sources.
  • Consult annotations by climate scientists.

Registration closes an hour before the workshop, and a Zoom link will be sent automatically at that time.
