Special Collections Scanning: Care & Handling

Special Collections Scanning: Care & Handling In-Person

Join Christine McCarthy, Director of Preservation & Conservation Services, for a presentation on preservation best practices when scanning special collections.  This training is focused on the use of overhead scanners like BookEye and Copibook.  The presentation will cover the basics of handling, identify special circumstances where extra measures are needed to prevent damage or improve image capture, and highlight those materials that may be better suited to photography studio set ups.  The session will also address handling issues in a social distancing environment and is intended for special collections  staff who will be working to provide online content to support fall teaching and learning.  All of welcome, however, with supervisory approval.  Rebecca Hatcher, Preservation Coordination Librarian; Tara Kennedy, Preservation Services Librarian; and Laura O'Brien-Miller, Conservator, who all contributed to this presentation will join us and particpate in the Q&A.
