Introduction to R In-Person

This lecture and demonstration will overview R, a programming language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. The lecture will describe R, point out sources of help, and provide recommended tutorials. Participants are encouraged follow along with the demonstration. This session is suitable for users with no previous experience using R.

The demonstration will provide examples of the following R basics:

  • Variable creation
  • Math operations
  • Comparison operators
  • R vectors
  • Reading and writing csv files into R
  • Dataframe basics

Please come to this class having R and RStudio installed on your own computer (there are no desktop computers in the classroom we will be meeting in). If you would like assistance with installing R on your computer, please set up a meeting with your Data Librarian by emailing medicaldata@yale.edu.
