Introduction to R In-Person
This lecture and demonstration will overview R, a programming language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. The lecture will describe R, point out sources of help, and provide recommended tutorials. Participants are encouraged follow along with the demonstration.
The demonstration will provide examples of the following R basics:
- Variable creation
- Math operations
- Comparison operators
- Print statements
- Conditional logic
- For loops
- R vectors
- Reading and writing csv and xlsx files into R
- Dataframe basics
Please come to this class having R and RStudio installed on your own computer, or plan on using a desktop computer in the library’s instruction room. If you would like assistance with installing R on your computer, please set up a meeting with your Data Librarian by emailing medicaldata@yale.edu.
