Introduction to Genome Browsers: UCSC Genome Browser In-Person
The University of California, Santa Cruz Genome Browser ( http://genome.ucsc.edu ) provides access to sequence and annotation data for a wide variety of different organism’s genomes. It is also a great a tool for visualizing, comparing and analyzing genomic data. In this session, we will use the UCSC genome browser and its Table Browser for:
-look at a gene structure and retrieve sequences
-how to add and remove tracks
-phenotype and literature track
-how to find and retrieve variation data
-how to find and retrieve genes located in a genomic region and download
