Learn how to conduct a literature review for your research papers, independent projects, and fellowship applications. 

Attendees will learn:  

• Why a literature review is important and how it can help your research  
• Strategies to find relevant literature  
• Techniques to synthesize the literature  
•  How citation management software (like Zotero) can help facilitate a literature review  

What is a literature review?  

A literature review is a narrative and synthesis about a set of sources. They are often required in theses and published papers to provide an analysis of sources/authors to demonstrate how your research fits within a larger academic conversation.  While not the same as a systematic review, scoping review, comprehensive review, or meta-analysis, those research methodologies draw from essential literature review skills, so this workshop is still a great place to start.  

Audience: Undergraduate students in all disciplines. Graduate students new to writing a literature review are also welcome to attend.
