Learn how to locate and organize papers for your science research papers, projects, and fellowship applications.

Attendees will learn:

• How to go from a few key papers to a well-balanced research library
• Strategies to find relevant literature
• Resources that professional scientists use
• How citation management software can help you organize your work

We will include a discussion of both classic databases and AI-enhanced literature searching tools.

What is a literature review?

A literature review is a narrative and synthesis about a set of sources. They are often required in theses and published papers to provide an analysis of sources/authors to demonstrate how your research fits within a larger academic conversation. While not the same as a systematic review, scoping review, comprehensive review, or meta-analysis, those research methodologies draw from essential literature review skills, so this workshop is still a great place to start.

Audience: Undergraduate and graduate students in the sciences.
