Reading Strategies for Writing Papers In-Person

Skip, skim, or read: most scholars don’t read every word, but which words do you choose? Learn strategies - that you can begin in the early research process - to efficiently select, read, and analyze a LOT of scholarly articles to prepare for a research paper.

Attendees will learn:

  1. Lateral reading – to make decisions about which articles to save for later
  2. Selective reading (aka skimming) – to identify the most important sections of a scholarly article
  3. Active reading – to ensure you maximize your time by reading with purpose
