R Hands-on Workshop: Summarize and visualize data in R In-Person

This hands-on workshop teaches you how to transform clean data into meaningful summaries and compelling visualizations. You'll learn to generate descriptive statistics, create professional Table 1 summaries commonly used in research publications, and build both static and interactive plots using ggplot2 and plotly. The course emphasizes practical skills for communicating data insights effectively, moving beyond basic plotting to create publication-quality graphics that tell your data's story.

Technical requirements:

  • Bring your own computer
  •  R and RStudio must be installed before the workshop

Learning objectives:

  • By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
    • Generate descriptive statistics and data summaries
    • Create publication-ready Table 1 for research papers
    • Build effective visualizations using ggplot2
    • Develop interactive plots using plotly
    • Apply best practices for data visualization design
