Advanced Search Techniques Online

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by search results, or been stuck with almost none at all? This workshop will teach you how to research like a librarian, using advanced search strategies to narrow your results to find the best sources for your research. 

Attendees will learn how to: 

  • Navigate resource types in Quicksearch (books, articles, data sets, etc.) 
  • Apply filters to find more relevant results 
  • Identify terminology used by scholars (linked subjects, keywords, subject headings) 
  • Use operators AND, OR, and NOT to make your search more specific 

Audience: Undergraduate and graduate students in all disciplines.
