Zotero and Overleaf fancy workshop image

Introduction to Zotero with Overleaf and LaTeX Online

You want to learn Zotero — but you write in Overleaf (LaTeX), not Word. This 1-hour session puts the power of Zotero at your fingertips to manage your research, take notes, and create citations.

This workshop is an overview of Zotero, a powerful reference manager and research organization tool, with a twist — we will cover the tools and plugins that make Zotero an excellent and efficient companion for LaTeX users.

Attendees will learn how to:

  • Navigate Zotero's interface, including tagging, collections, and file management
  • Import and export references to manage citations efficiently
  • Set up and use Zotero’s Better BibTeX for LaTeX integration
  • Move seamlessly between LaTeX documents, bib files, and Zotero

Before the workshop, install Zotero (free at https://www.zotero.org) and have access to your LaTeX environment (Overleaf or desktop). We'll explore both the default Overleaf-Zotero integration and alternative plugin-based approaches.

Audience: Anyone at Yale with basic LaTeX familiarity who wants to integrate Zotero into their research workflow, whether using Overleaf or desktop-based LaTeX tools. This workshop will not teach LaTeX, so if you need that, please see March 10th's workshop.

Workshop Incentive Program: Any student who attends at least 3 library workshops this semester will be eligible to receive a FREE Yale Library tote bag. Learn more here.

Registration: Required. This workshop will be held on Zoom.
