Author talk with Dorothy Berry In-Person
Please join us on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 4-5:30 pm for a book event at the Sterling Memorial Library Lecture Hall, Yale University (see address and map link below) with Dorothy Berry, Digital Curator for the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Berry will be in conversation with Cheryl Beredo, Beinecke Library Director of Collections and Chief Curator, which will include readings from her book, The House Archives Built and Other Thoughts on Black Archival Possibilities, which explores how we define archives and what it means for cultural heritage institutions to 'preserve' Black memory.
Refreshments will follow in the foyer of the Sterling Memorial Library Lecture Hall after the event. Books will be available for purchase onsite by Possible Futures Bookstore. The event is free and open to the public. However, it will not be livestreamed or recorded. Registration is required and will open March 16th, 2026.
The event is hosted by Yale University Library's Reparative Archival Description Working Group (RAD), Yale University Library Staff Development and Engagement Department, and Yale Library Archives Advisory Group.
