Find architectural plans, drawings, and images Online

Are you looking for architectural drawings or articles on a historic building or structure? Join us for a 45-minute workshop to learn how to get started with building research and where to find relevant resources at Yale Library. This session is great for students in architecture or design courses who need a refresher or intro to building research at Yale—or for anyone interested in building research more generally.

Attendees will learn how to:

  1. Identify key types of sources for building research (such as architectural drawings, journal articles, and images) and explain how they can be used to study a historic building or structure.

  2. Locate and access core Yale Library tools and collections for architectural and building research, including research guides, catalogs, and relevant databases.

  3. Develop a basic search strategy for researching a specific building or structure, including formulating search terms and selecting appropriate resources for course assignments or independent projects.

Audience: All members of the Yale community are welcome to attend.

Registration: Registration required. You will receive a reminder email 1-hour before the event with the link to the Zoom room. If you register less than 1-hour before the event starts, email tess.colwell@yale.edu for the Zoom link.

Interested in a different workshop? Visit the library's workshop calendar. If you have a specific question or if workshop dates do not work with your schedule, reach out to your Personal Librarian or Subject Specialist Librarian for help.
