It's a Vibe: Using VSCode, GitHub Copilot(AI), & MCP Servers to work more intelligently In-Person

No matter where you stand with 'vibe coding' – familiar territory or brand new concept – we'll work together to set up tools that enhance your AI-powered workflow. Through hands-on experience with VSCode, GitHub Copilot, and Docker with MCP sequential thinking, we'll discover how AI development can transform your daily work.

By the end of this workshop, you will:

1. Set up a modern development environment with Visual Studio Code (VSCode)

2. Install and configure GitHub Copilot - your AI coding assistant

3. Configure MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server for enhanced AI assistance

4. Investigate potential applications for your work

5. Analyze actual fMRI brain imaging data to demonstrate statistical analysis, and data visualization - all powered by AI assistance.

You will need the following software and accounts configured(please consider if you need administrative rights from ITS to install software):

Software:

  • Visual Studio code
  • Docker Desktop
  • Python

Account(s):

  • GitHub(free)
