🏆 I need [more/fewer] results in PubMed Online
Description: Sometimes, you start searching in PubMed and you get too many results — way too many to look through. Or conversely, you get only a few results, even though you know that this topic has been investigated. What do you do then? In this 30-minute training (followed by optional practice time), you'll learn how to tweak your searches to find more results, or fewer results. We'll demonstrate and practice these skills with PubMed, but you can apply these insights to improve searches in any literature database.
Learning outcomes:
-
Use PubMed field tags like [title] or [ot] to get fewer, on-target search results
-
Use Boolean operators with synonyms and less restrictive search queries to get more results
-
Interpret the output of PubMed's Automated Term Mapping feature and edit PubMed's Search Details
