National Public Health Week at Cushing/Whitney Medical Library Training 2: Public Health Workforce Access to Information Online
During National Public Health Week, "The Future of Public Health Starts Here"! In this half-hour training, we'll discuss how the public health workforce outside of academia can access literature and evidence. We'll discuss free literature databases like PubMed, Lens, and Google Scholar, and we'll cover multiple pathways to get at the full text of journal articles, even if the article is paywalled on the publisher's website.
If you plan to stay in academia forever and write papers for only academics to read, then you don't need to come to this training.
If you plan to enter the public health workforce, or if you want to share your academic research with the public health workforce, this training is for you!
Participants will be able to:
- Find and access public health literature for free
- Use the PubMed Free Full Text filter judiciously
- Install green open access browser plugins
