Reporting guidelines up close: Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER) Online

In this 30-minute, lunchtime training on the eve of International Women's Day, we'll explore the Sex and Gender Equity in Research reporting guidelines. These guidelines can help authors transparently report their research and are designed for "all research with humans, animals or any material originating from humans and animals (e.g. organs, cells, tissues), as well as other disciplines whose results will be applied to humans such as mechanics and engineering."

We'll look at the SAGER guidelines paper (2016) and the SAGER checklist (2022). We'll also review the stance of WHO (World Health Organization) and ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) on the SAGER guidelines.

After this session, you'll be able to:

  • Locate the SAGER guidelines and other reporting guidelines on the Equator Network website
  • Select the SAGER items applicable to a particular study

Use the SAGER guidelines as an author or peer reviewer

You truly do not need to read about SAGER in advance; just show up! But if you want start reading now, here's where to start:
