Advanced Search Techniques

Advanced Search Techniques Online

Learn skills to research like a librarian, including how to use "advanced search" techniques to find books and articles in Quicksearch. Join us for 30-minutes and get a step ahead for coursework and research projects!

Attendees will learn how to:

  • navigate to distinct resource types in Quicksearch (books, articles, etc.)
  • use filters (subject, author, discipline) to find more relevant results
  • identify Advanced Search features
  • broaden and narrow search results using operators AND, OR, and NOT

Audience: Undergraduate students. Graduate students are also welcome.

Students interested in this workshop might also be interested in “First Steps with Zotero” and "Demystifying the Literature Review." For individual support, reach out to your Personal Librarian or Subject Specialist Librarian.

Any student who attends at least 3 library workshops this semester will be eligible to receive a Yale Library tote bag! Learn more about the Workshop Incentive Program.
