GitHub is a version control tool popular with researchers in any field that uses code or scripting, and for good reason — it creates a trail of what you did, when, and why in order to ensure that you can troubleshoot without losing your work. We will discuss what GitHub does, how to create a repository and populate it with files, what to do when you edit files, and how to share your work. If there's time at the end, we can cover GitHub pages, a popular way to create websites on the GitHub platform.

This workshop is best suited for those who have taken "Working with the Unix Shell" first, but you can always spend a few minutes learning basic shell commands on your own using LinkedIn Learning or YouTube tutorials.
