Using GIS for Site Suitability: Finding the Best Location
Using GIS for Site Suitability: Finding the Best Location In-Person
If you've ever looked at a map and tried to figure out where to place something, this workshop is made for you. In this workshop we'll be covering ArcGIS Pro's Suitability Modeler. A suitability model helps you determine the best location for ... well... anything! You can site things like shopping malls, power plants, and parks.
However, in this workshop we'll be identifying vulnerable areas to groundwater pollution in the United States and determing which areas should and should not be further developed. While we focus on Suitability Modeler, we'll also cover tools tools such as Polygon to Raster, Chart Properties, and Coordinate Systems. Towards the end, we'll take a look at how site suitability can be used for other purposes as well.
If you've taken an Intro to ArcGIS Pro workshop before, this class serves as a major next step in your GIS learning.
This workshop is taught by Daniel Gonzalez, one of Yale Library's GIS Consultants. Prior to Yale, Daniel worked on the ArcGIS Pro software team at Esri.
