Discussion Panel with Deirdre Bishop In-Person

LOCATION: Yale Science Building Room 254, 260 Whitney Ave, New Haven CT 06511
Open to Yale members.

OVERVIEW:

This Thursday, Yale students have an opportunity to meet with Deirdre Dalpiaz Bishop, chief of the Geography Division at the U.S. Census Bureau. Bishop leads a staff of over 200 employees in the development of a national geospatial database. This database of addresses, roads, and boundaries creates the foundation used to support the 2020 Census and ongoing surveys.

This question-oriented chat will be led and moderated by Prof. Bill Rankin, Associate Professor of the Department of History, and joined by Barbara Esty, Data Librarian at CSSSI and Kate Nyhan, the Public Health Research and Education Librarian at the Cushing/Whitney Medical Library.

Come and have an open conversation with Bishop on a wide range of topics, including geography, census, GIS, and immigration, etc.

Email Anna Yu (a.yu@yale.edu) for any questions and concerns.
