Intro to Letterpress Printing with Jesse Marsolais
Location: Jonathan Edwards College Press
Letterpress printing was a new technology that spread rapidly in 15th century Europe and became the dominant way to produce books for centuries. Though superseded by newer methods in the last half century, it has been revived as a craft and still has much to teach us about how books are made, the importance of learning by doing, and why so many people still practice it as a vehicle for creative expression. This hands-on workshop will introduce all the essential elements of letterpress printing.
