BEDTools Suite: swiss-army knife of tools for genomic analysis In-Person
It is difficult to manipulate raw or intermediate files generated during genome sequencing analysis. The BEDTools Suite offers a set of UNIX-based commands that are very easy to use, but very helpful. With this simple-to-use, command-line suite of tools you can achieve important steps in genomic analysis very fast. Specifically, through this workshop, you will learn to:
- Change the format of files containing lists of genomic intervals
- Overlap genomic intervals between multiple files
- Sort a genomic intervals file by any field of choice
- Find neighboring genomic intervals in two separate files
This will be a demonstration-based workshop. Attendees are welcome to bring their own laptops to follow along, but are not required. Some preliminary knowledge of UNIX is recommended, but not required. Handouts will be provided at the beginning of class.
