Introduction to Data Visualization in R with ggplot2 In-Person

This workshop will introduce the R package ggplot2 and briefly compare it to other R graphics packages. The hands-on component, which will take up the majority of the workshop, will involve reading in practice datasets, creating graphs using ggplot2 functions, and refining these visualizations. We will view dataset summaries, boxplots, barplots, histograms, and scatter plots.

After learning the nuts and bolts of graph creation in ggplot2, you will have the opportunity to critically think about data visualization opportunities of a new dataset provided in class.

This workshop is not an introduction to the R language itself.
