GIS Tips & Tricks: Mapping XY Data In-Person
This workshop will introduce basic concepts of geographic coordinate system and projections. Attendees will learn how to map XY (latitude/longitude) data available as table or raw data (e.g. .txt or csv file).
Software Used: Esri ArcGIS for Desktop and ArcGIS Online
Topics
This workshop covers:
- projection and coordinate systems
- transforming tabular into spatial data
- converting Degrees, Minutes and Seconds into Decimal Degrees (DMS►DD)
- common mistakes and how to correct them
- symbology
Before you come
This workshop is designed for attendees who have the following:
- Use Lab PC or bring your own laptop - Windows or iOS welcome
- You may only observe the demos and practice later
