There Is Biomedical Literature Outside of Publisher Paywalls! In-Person

How can you get the high-quality biomedical literature you need for evidence-based care, policy, or activism, without an active NetID? We'll give you a toolkit that you can use to discover, access, manage, and evaluate journal articles --without a university affiliation, without paying any more than you have to, and most important, without compromising on quality.

•Hands-on! Try out our power user advice about finding open access and free papers in free biomedical literature databases. We'll discuss the best use cases for Google Scholar, PubMed, PubMed Central, and more

•Reach out and touch someone --we'll cover several options for getting full text from authors

•Identify dead ends and find an alternative paper

•When all else fails, use Loansome Doc to get a PDF you need --reliably, quickly, and at a lower price

Sign up for this hands-on workshop if you are interested in information justice and open access, if your next institution is under-resourced, or if you are becoming an independent scholar.
