So Much Literature, So Little Time: Strategies for Keeping Up In-Person

Do you know someone who always seems to know what is happening in their subfield (plus a bit more from related disciplines) and want to know their secret? Do you feel like it is increasingly difficult to keep up with new and exciting articles in your field? What about the scholarly communications on research blogs, announcements from the NSF, NIH, and NEH, and other items?

In this workshop, we will walk through library database alerts, Table of Contents digests, Google Scholar alerts, and other solutions that can streamline your information workflow. We will also briefly discuss RSS feeds and feed readers (such as Feedly), which can keep you up to speed on important announcements without having to log into social media.

By the end of this workshop, you should have several working scholarly article alerts that you can use to keep up-to-date on research in your area. You may have identified e-Tables of Contents to sign up for and RSS feeds to keep track of in your research area, too.

Please bring a laptop to this workshop.
