By the Numbers: Citation Counts, h-Indices, and Evaluating Researchers
This workshop is targeted at graduate students and postdocs who would like more information about the metrics used to evaluate article, chapter, and scholarly monograph performance in the sciences and social sciences. We will discuss the underlying philosophy of evaluating scholarly communication, what the most commonly-used metrics are, and how you can prepare your researcher "brand" to make more effective use of these systems.
