CANCELLED: Allied, Alternative, and Complementary Medicine Databases In-Person
Interested in adding allied, alternative, and complimentary medicine to you practice or simply want to know more, but don’t know where to get reliable information on the topic? In this class, we will cover three of the major Allied, Alternative, and Complementary Medicine Databases, CINAHL, AMED, and Natural Medicines.
CINAHL provides indexing for over 5,400 journals, with over five million records, from the fields of nursing, biomedicine, health sciences librarianship, alternative/complementary medicine, consumer health, and 17 allied health disciplines.
AMED provides citations and abstracts covering a selection of journals in complementary medicine, palliative care and several professions allied to medicine. Subjects covered include acupuncture, osteopathy, Chinese medicine, homeopathy, hypnosis, herbalism, chiropractic, holistic treatments and rehabilitation and more.
Natural Medicines provides resources about thousands of natural medicines, including herbs, dietary supplements, sports supplements, minerals, and vitamins. It was created by the research and editorial staff at the Therapeutic Research Center, a team of pharmacists, physicians, dietitians, and pharmacologists, whose mission it is to provide completely independent and objective analysis of drug therapy information.
This class will familiarize you with using EBSCO and OVID platforms, which house other databases, including: Medline, Embase, PsycINFO and Academic Search Premiere.
