Practical Research Data Management In-Person

  • “That variable named Kate12, do you remember what it is?”
  • “Which file do we want: Kate_final_FINAL or Kate_final_really?”
  • “Do we still have a copy of that software we were using in 2011?”

Planning how you’ll manage your research data will save you time and trouble. Even small projects will run more smoothly if you think through some data management issues in advance. In this workshop, we’ll discuss the research data lifecycle, moments of “data management risk,” and practical approaches to data management that you can apply in your own work, including naming conventions, filetypes, and data documentation. Everyone from PIs to peons will leave this workshop with a checklist of practical next steps in data management.
