Comprehensive Literature Searching for Alternatives to Meet IACUC Requirements In-Person
If you are submitting a protocol to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) that requires a literature search for alternatives, then this class is for you. The IACUC requires a comprehensive search of the literature for alternatives to painful or distressful procedures (USDA categories D and E) on USDA-covered species. In this class, you will learn how to search several databases for alternatives using the 3 Rs (Reduction, Refinement, and Replacement) as your guidepost. It will also cover what information to submit to the IACUC committee and how. Databases we will cover include, but are not limited to: PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE, Embase and Web of Science.
