HPC Bootcamp:Practical Introduction to Linux
This HPC Bootcamp is a hands-on two-hour introductory workshop on Linux and BASH that is specifically aimed at building a solid foundation for using Linux as a practical tool for your work. It will be taught by Ben Evans PhD, Research Support Analyst in the YCRC, The workshop will cover Linux basics including:
- Navigating the command line
- Installing software
- File input and output
- Redirection and pipelines
Each student will receive a virtual Linux machine in the cloud for hands-on lessons (a personal laptop computer is required in class to connect). Students will be able to continue to connect to this virtual Linux machine for quite some time after the workshop concludes to practice lessons learned or to extend their knowledge of Linux.
