Git & GitHub: An Introduction to Version Control In-Person

This is an in-person class.

You will learn: 

- Benefits & basics of a Version Control System 

- Differences between git and GitHub 

- About remote repositories and why they are useful 

- How to use git in the terminal to initialize, add, and commit files to a repository 

- Publish a repository to GitHub.com 

- Overview of GitHub.com & GitHub desktop 

- What git clone is and how clone a remote repository in the terminal & desktop application 

  

Prerequisites: 

A laptop.

A github.com account(Sign up here: https://github.com/signup) is required for the hands-on portions of the class. 

GitHub Desktop( Download here: https://desktop.github.com/) is also required and should be installed prior to the class (I will not have time to help install GitHub desktop on your computer at the beginning of the class). 

Basic terminal knowledge would be helpful but not required.
